What Pressure Atlas measures
Pressure Atlas publishes two numbers per UTC day, computed from a labeled crypto/finance media pipeline that has tracked global Bitcoin coverage since April 2021.
Compression
The compression score (0-100) rises when coverage collapses onto fewer themes: the same story, told everywhere, in narrowing variations. Historically, strong compression has often preceded decisive market moves - the narrative field tightens before it resolves.
Expansion
Expansion is the complement. It rises when coverage spreads across more themes at once, the condition that tends to accompany uncertainty: many stories, no consensus about which one matters.
How to use them
Both scores are measurements of media conditions, not forecasts. They say nothing about direction. An agent connected over MCP can ask for any daily window since 2021 and read the field the way an instrument panel is read: what are conditions now, and how do they compare to past regimes?
Nothing in these scores is investment advice.
